Goodshaw Baptist - The New  Church

 (formerly the Sunday School)

Burnley Road, Crawshawbooth

The foundation stone for the new Church, which was designed to hold eight hundred people, was laid by Henry Kelsall J.P., of Rochdale on Good Friday 1864 and the Church was opened by the Rev. J.P. Chown of Bradford in April 1865. A Day and Sunday School, which were added in 1875, were completely destroyed by fire in January 1886. The school was rebuilt and re-opened in March 1887. The church building was used until the late 1950s, when because of a crumbling structure and dry rot it was decided to convert the Sunday School into a church and the original church was demolished in October 1961.
