LANCASHIRE FAMILY HISTORY
AND HERALDRY SOCIETY
Rossendale Branch
Newsletter August 2000
Frank Hargreaves
___Memorial____
Frank died in November 1998 aged 74. He
had for many years been Project Organiser for the Rossendale Branch, until
ill health forced him to give up a this pursuit. In his memory the members
of this Branch have purchased the Phillimore Atlas and Index,
2nd edition; edited by Cecil Humphrey-Smith. which has been added
to our library stock. This very fine book comprises maps of the pre 1832
parishes of England, Wales and Scotland. At the rear of the book there is
an index taken from a Gazeeter of 1834. Each parish is shown together with
a listing which indicates original registers, years covered by the IGI,
local marriage indexes, copies of registers and non-conformist registers
held at the Public Record Office.

area you may be interested to know that this research group now
